Biologist IV

The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise with proven experience working in environmental compliance related to biological resources, with emphasis on the Southwest.  Individuals that have consulting experience and established relationships with federal, tribal, state, and local resource and regulatory agencies are highly desired.

Duties include (but not limited to the following):

  • Serves as lead technical biologist on complex projects
  • Serves as project manager
  • Implements business development and marketing strategies
  • Prepares proposals
  • Manages project budgets
  • Supervises staff biologists

Requires:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology or closely-related field, with a minimum of twelve years of experience
  • Minimum of four years of staff management experience
  • Consulting and/or agency experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, especially the Endangered Species Act

Environmental Planner IV, Dir.

Logan Simpson Design Inc. (LSD), a growing environmental planning and design firm, with unique and exciting projects, currently seeks a Director of Environmental Planning for our Tempe Arizona office.

The ideal candidate will possess proven technical expertise and comprehensive experience in preparing NEPA documents including EISs and EAs.

A strong emphasis will be placed on individuals who have established relationships with federal, tribal, state, and local resource and regulatory agency experience.  Candidates must also have experience in project and project team management, and specific energy industry (pipeline, transmission lines, wind, and solar) experience.

Other Duties include, but not limited to the following:

  • Participate in the development of service line business development strategies, and lead specific marketing efforts
  • Implement LSD and team strategic plan
  • Develop and implement service line technical procedures (like QC)

Requires:

  • Master of Science or Arts degree in Biology, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Environmental Studies or closely related field preferred, with a minimum of six years of experience or equivalent combination
  • Minimum of five years of staff management experience
  • Consulting or agency experience or equivalent combination

GIS Analyst III      Apply

GIS Analyst III

Logan Simpson Design Inc. (LSD), a dynamic and growing environmental planning and design firm, with unique and exciting projects, currently seeks a Senior GIS Analyst, located in our Tempe Arizona office.

The ideal candidate will possess proven technical expertise and comprehensive experience in communicating project data using ArcGIS and preparing and reviewing complex GIS products.  Additionally they will have extensive use and knowledge of CAD and mapping standards and practices, and a strong data analysis background with both vector and raster data types are essential.

The candidate must be able to collaborate with project managers to effectively integrate GIS in meeting project objectives and with management in order to utilize GIS in business development areas of focus.

A strong emphasis will be placed on individuals who have demonstrated project and project team management experience working with planners and a variety of resource specialists, specifically in an environmental consulting environment.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

·          Graphics software such as: Illustrator; Photoshop; and InDesign

·          Relational Database Management Systems, including Access and SQL databases

·          Sharepoint website management, particularly providing mapping for Sharepoint

·          GPS data collection using: Garmin recreational grade GPS; Trimble Mapping Grade GPS Units; Trimble TerraSync, and Pathfinder Office Pro software

·          Ability to automate GIS procedures using: Model Builder; Python scripting, or other programming tools

·          Knowledge of or experience with ESRI, other proprietary, or open source solutions for internet based GIS services

·          Spatial and non-spatial statistical analysis and modeling

·          Advanced raster analysis and modeling

 

Requires:

·          Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, Geographical Information Systems, or related field

·          Six years of experience or equivalent combination

·          Demonstrated advanced use of: ArcGIS; Spatial Analyst, and 3D Analyst programs

·          Familiarity with AutoCad, AutoCadMap, and Microstation, and possess the ability to convert data to and from these data formats for use in a GIS environment

·          Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • RLA in the state of Nevada.
